Internship: Urban Teaching Farm @ U.C.F.

The Urban Teaching Farm, is a greenspace on the campus of non-profit Upstate Circle of Friends in Gantt (Greenville),SC. The Urban Teaching Farm aims to provide a educational and hands-on experiences for all those who visit, while simultaneously feeding the underserved surrounding community.

During this internship, U.C.F provided Zay with the opportunity to assist Lead Farm Manager Kim Gibson with regular maintenance of the farm, serving as an official farm assistant. He was tasked with solo projects as well, like helping children grow and learn about plants they were growing themselves, and even leading teams of volunteers who worked the farm. Zay also served as a guide for all those who visited the farm, offering valuable insight and knowledge about the specific crops and the entire greenspace as a whole. Here under the wing of U.C.F, Zay also go to learn the inner workings of grant writing, and management.
